B2 Transform – Judges Communications Pack

• Ofwat, the English and Welsh water regulator, has announced the winners of its latest innovation competition, the Transform stream of the second Water Breakthrough Challenge.
• Winning initiatives include projects to reduce leakage, improve household water efficiency, and turn carbon dioxide created by the water sector into useful products like paint and fertiliser.
• The Water Breakthrough Challenge is run by Nesta Challenges, with Arup and Isle Utilities, and forms part of Ofwat’s £200 million Innovation Fund, an ambitious initiative to support the water sector to better meet the needs of customers, society and the environment through innovation.
• This latest funding follows the announcement of the winners of the Catalyst stream in March 2022.
• The winners of both streams will be showcased at a free online event on 10 May 2022 – register here for more information.
• Water Breakthrough Challenge 3 will open in Autumn 2022. Ofwat are currently consulting on changes to this and future competitions, and will be sharing more details over the summer.
