From source to sea report

Investment in nature-first approaches and innovation must be at the heart of building a sustainable water future in order to restore ecosystems, improve water quality and build resilience in rivers, wetlands and coastal environments. Through the Ofwat Innovation Fund, the water sector has embraced a more holistic, source-to-sea approach which recognises the interconnectivity of our water systems and the vital role of nature-led interventions.

From upstream catchment management to innovative water reuse and flood mitigation, the eight projects featured in this report reflect the ambition of the sector to improve outcomes and better navigate the interconnectedness of water systems, as well as the need to think differently and leverage innovation in all forms across the water cycle.
