The clean water sector lacks a cost-effective and sustainable power source for remote monitoring equipment, such as sensors, loggers, and valves. This is because the baseline technology is short life, single use, unrecycled, batteries. This is a stopgap solution hindering the transition to a digital infrastructure, necessary to reduce leakage, maintain water quality, minimise site visits and maintain robustness as climate and demand pressures grow.
Vysion Technologies has developed a micro-turbine that harvests electricity from the pipe flow to provide clean, reliable, and affordable power almost anywhere in the network. We have finally made turbine harvesting viable for the sector.
