Microbial Electrolysis Cells produce hydrogen while treating wastewater. We’ll trial this game-changing, wastewater treatment technology while creating sustainable energy. To prevent power outages caused by more frequent extreme weather, we can use the hydrogen to generate electricity keeping treatment services operational, thus reducing environmental harm, and improving service to customers.
“Deploying our Microbial Electrolysis system is a huge step towards achieving sustainable hydrogen production and the commercialisation of our technology. Water companies will have the potential to transform the high treatment costs of conventional wastewater treatment into revenue generation, helping to keep customer bills low whilst reducing carbon footprint.”
